Your new company
Our client is a residential home for children suffering from EBD and extremely challenging behaviour aged between 11 -17-years old, based in South West London. Our client provides high-quality facilities and services for young people, prioritizing their needs, voices, and feelings and ensuring their well-being.

Your new role
Position: Residential Support Worker
Pay: £27,145 - £29,145
Location: Southwest London - Raynes Park

Duties are as follows:

  • Assisting in the operational management of the establishment.
  • Adherence to home policies, procedures, and principles.
  • Development of positive childcare practice in line with the policy.
  • Providing a safe, warm, and supportive environment.
  • Involvement in planning and organising the home.
  • Regular recording of each young person.
  • Involvement in the implementation of care plans.
  • Assisting in the development, implementation, and review of policy.
  • Co-ordination of daily routines and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Undertaking delegated household duties.
  • Attending supervision sessions and team meetings.
  • Complying with establishment policies and procedures.
  • Handling telephone enquiries and administrative duties.
  • Fostering and encouraging contact between children and their families.
  • Maintaining good liaison with external agencies.
  • Supporting young people in all domestic aspects.
  • Demonstrating sensitivity and appropriate assertiveness.
  • Working in a pressured environment with diverse young people, staff, and professionals.
  • Physically intervening if a young person's behaviour is dangerous.
  • Sleeping in/shift work, including evenings, bank holidays and weekends on a rota system.

What you'll need to succeed

2-3 years' experience of working at a children's residential home dealing with extremely challenging behaviour.
Ideally, NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social care/Children and young people or Diploma for Residential Childcare

  • Following the successful completion of the probation period, workers that do not yet hold the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) will be enrolled on this Ofsted required qualification. This qualification typically takes one year to complete and upon successful completion staff salary will increase. All increases to salary will be subject to a successful annual appraisal.
