Design Manager

Your new company
Our client is excellent at what they do. Their client base of public sector organisations and premium blue-chip corporations trust them to deliver complex design and build construction projects in a way which delivers certainty to the client and a sustainable flow of projects to this builder. As they set their business up for 2024, they are looking to appoint a design manager to their business.
Your new role
As Design Manager for this business, you will be responsible for driving the design process all the way from the pre-construction phase of a two-stage tender to the operations phase on-site and handover to a satisfied client. Working with a range of internal and external stakeholders such as consultancies and your supply chain, you will ensure your team on-site are building in line with the design brief whilst at all times seeking commercial value for our client and their stakeholders. This will involve constant communication with and management of all stakeholders.
What you'll need to succeed
Our client is a leading builder whose project scope and processes demand a high level of construction knowledge and professionalism. The ideal candidate will either be already working in a design management role for a tier 1 or tier 2 builder who has deep knowledge of the role and how to maximise its function on complex building projects or be a degree-qualified construction professional such as an Architect, Engineer or Project Manager who has been exposed to design management as part of their current role and found that they enjoy its challenges and would like to develop their career in this direction.
