Job Description

Head of House - Colchester

Hays are proud to be working alongside a fantastic children's care provider inside of Colchester. We're currently on the lookout for a talented and experienced senior support worker to join our team in a children's residential and school setting. In this role, you'll have the incredible opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children who need it the most.

As a senior support worker, you'll be responsible for providing essential care, support, and guidance to the children under our care. You'll work closely with a dedicated team to create a safe and nurturing environment where these amazing kids can grow and thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Building meaningful relationships: As a senior support worker, you'll have the chance to build strong and trusting relationships with children. You'll be their advocate, mentor, and friend, providing the support they need to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

2. Ensuring their well-being: The well-being of the children will be at the forefront of everything you do. You'll be responsible for their physical, emotional, and mental well-being, ensuring they feel safe, loved, and supported at all times.

3. Collaborating with a team: You'll work closely with a team of dedicated professionals, including social workers, teachers, and therapists. Together, you'll create personalised care plans, implement strategies, and provide a holistic approach to support the children's development.

4. Promoting educational growth: In the school setting, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the children's educational journey. You'll work closely with teachers to ensure their individual needs are met, helping them thrive academically and emotionally.

5. Encouraging life skills development: As a senior support worker, you'll empower the children to develop essential life skills. From cooking and cleaning to problem-solving and decision-making, you'll guide them towards independence and self-sufficiency.

To excel in this role, we're looking for someone with a genuine passion for working with children, along with relevant experience in a similar setting. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as building strong relationships with the children and collaborating with the team are essential.
