Job Description

Safeguarding Manager, Head of Safeguarding

Our client supports vulnerable individuals - supporting refugees, unaccompanied asylum seekers, victims of domestic violence and survivors of modern-day slavery.
The post holder will work alongside the Senior Team utilising their skills in supporting the Director of Operations to ensure that clients are empowered, encouraged, and enabled to lead satisfying healthy lives.

Duties

  • The post holder will oversee and manage a team of safeguarding managers who will be responsible for the management of safeguarding incidents for our sites and services.
  • The post holder will develop effective policies, procedures, controls, processing and systems to prevent, detect and investigate potential safeguarding issues. The successful candidate will have the skills and experience necessary to support the safeguarding team and service teams in implementing and adhering to safeguarding good practice.
  • The post holder will sit on committees and boards as required and represent the company.
  • The post holder will be required to participate in the back-up on call rota, where they will be available for the period of one week at a time, to provide advice and guidance to the duty person on call. The post holder will be required to action any safeguarding incidents that may arise out of hours while on call.
  • The post holder will oversee, develop and maintain relationships with partnering agencies and external stakeholders; attending external agencies meetings where required.
  • The post holder must have extensive knowledge of safeguarding/child protection & health and safety and be willing to undertake appropriate training updates.
  • The post holder should also have a range of personal skills and attributes including: empathy, approachability, good sense of humour, objectivity, attention to detail, resilience and dedication to the cause of safeguarding young people under the age of 18 and vulnerable adults. The post holder must have knowledge of working with vulnerable individuals including victims of modern slavery & human trafficking, domestic violence, forced marriage, honour-based violence, asylum seekers and refugees. The post holder will receive ongoing support from the directors in the form of training, guidance and regular communications.
  • The post holder will act as the link to the Head of Operations and Executive Directors. The post holder will be expected to undertake all duties outlined above and in addition, some other duties not outlined above will need to be undertaken as requested by the executive directors.

Knowledge & Experience
1) Demonstrable experience of ability to plan and priorities own workload.
2) Demonstrable experience of working towards targets and tight deadlines
3) Extensive demonstrable experience and knowledge of supporting vulnerable victims.
4) Extensive knowledge/understanding of working in a social/support/care arena.
5) Demonstrable experience of management and team working.
6) Demonstrable experience of working in a multi-agency environment, partnership working and collaboration.
7) Experience of risk analysis and production of robust risk assessments.
8) Excellent communication skills.
9) Experience developing safeguarding policies and procedures
10) Experience of embedding good practice within an organisation
11) Good problem-solving skills, with experience of dealing with complex issues.
12) Understanding of and adherence to confidentiality and maintenance of professional boundaries
13) Knowledge of British Law in relation to safeguarding and the wider area of adult protection.
