  • Job Description: MFL Teacher (French and Spanish)
  • Position: MFL Teacher (French and Spanish).
  • Location: Leytonstone, London
  • Contract Type: Temporary (Easter 2024 to July) with the possibility of permanent employment from July onwards
  • Salary Range: £180 - £265 per day (depending on experience)
  • School Rating: Ofsted rated 'Good'
  • Start Date: Easter 2024
  • Hours: Full-time (Term Time)

  • Key Purpose: As an MFL Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching French and Spanish to Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4) students at this Ofsted-rated 'Good' Secondary School in Leytonstone. Working through Hays Education, your role will involve planning, delivering, and assessing lessons in accordance with school guidelines. Additionally, you will contribute to creating a positive and stimulating learning environment.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teaching:
  • Plan, prepare, and present engaging lessons following guidelines.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the educational needs of all students.
  • Mark and record student assessments, ensuring timely feedback and addressing underperforming work.
  • Set and mark homework for KS4 students according to school policy.
  • Assess student progress and attainment using appropriate baseline data.
  • Continuously evaluate learning objectives and adjust teaching methods accordingly.


  • Resource Deployment:
  • Create and maintain a safe, welcoming classroom environment.

  • Tutor and Duties:
  • Undertake the role of form tutor if required, providing welfare support for students.
  • Communicate any student-related issues to the student welfare team.
  • Fulfil supervisory duties as needed before school, during breaks, or after school.

  • Responsibilities of All School Staff:
  • Support the school's vision and values.
  • Contribute to enhancing the school community.
  • Attend staff meetings and INSET days.
  • Prioritise safeguarding and children's welfare, reporting any concerns promptly.

  • Additional Notes:
  • Experienced teachers are preferred, but strong Early Career Teachers (ECTs) will also be considered.
