Job Description

Electrical QS Manager required for a business based in Totton

HAYS are currently recruiting an Electrical QS to join an established M&E Contractor based in Totton. Projects genuinely consist of hospitality & retail, but with the success of winning new business, the company is now moving into new sectors such as care homes etc.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Manage the process of distributing, reviewing, evaluating, and signing off the EICR, Fire Alarm and Emergency lighting certification which is provided by the PPM engineers.
  • Ensure satisfactory certification is saved in the correct format for the client, and the job is moved on to the invoice process.
  • Ensure that estimates are created for any remedial work recorded by the Electrical testing engineers.
  • Assist the PPM department in liaising with the clients in relation to their statutory work.
  • Provide technical support to the Electrical testing engineers as required.
  • Review the Minor Works and Installation Certificates on completion of any electrical remedial works.
  • Carry out post audits of Electrical testing engineers.
  • Carry out your duties and responsibilities as an appointed person for the Company NICEIC accreditation.
  • Assist in assessment of engineer's qualification and competences for potential or existing staff.
  • Developing toolbox talks in relation to electrical testing and certification.


  • Package
  • £41,500 to £43,500 rising to £45,000 after a 3-month probation.
  • 22 days holiday increased to 25 with time served plus an 8-day bank holiday.
  • On the job, training as well as technical qualifications
  • Use of pooled car when out of the office.
  • Start date: Immediate.


  • The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:
  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation Apprentice trained or above.
  • IET Wiring Regulations, 18th Edition, BS 7671: 2018 (Electrical Regulations)
  • Electrical Inspection and Testing C&G 2391-52 or equivalent.
  • Ideally, previous NICEIC QS Experience.
  • Full British driving licence
  • Communication skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making.
  • PC Literate with Microsoft Office software packages.
