Job Description

Chester, Cheshire. Residential Childcare Worker complex ASD and challenging behaviours. Full-time permanent.

Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with an Ofsted rated "Good" residential SEN school in Chester as they require motivated and reliable residential childcare workers to support children and young people with complex ASD and challenging behaviours. This is a full-time permanent 35 hour contract with shift patterns consisting of 08:45 - 16:45 excluding weekends.

Your new role
In your new role you will be supporting children and young people with complex and profound needs on a 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 basis in a school environment. As a residential childcare worker with a specialist SEN school you supporting children and young people with complex ASD and challenging behaviours between the ages of 4 - 19. You will be your childs main point of contact throughout the school day, supporting during lesson and break times, and acting as an advocate or voice when required as some young people will be non-verbal. You will support the young people in the classroom by effectively identifying triggers and ensuring a safe environment if behaviours are to escalate, removing your young person from an over-stimulating environment to give them time to calm down. Other duties will include, but may not be limited to personal care, behaviour management, emotional support, classroom management, and feeding.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful with your application you need full "Right to Work" in the UK. The ideal candidate will also have a minimum of 6 months referenceable expereince supporting children and young people in the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Previous experience supporting ASD and/or challenging behaviours
  • A willingness to learn
  • Be willing to work towards and NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in residential childcare
