Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives. That’s when it hits home.

We have fabulous job opportunity for you to join our awesome team, supporting our customers living in our amazing supported housing service in Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Our customers are excluded and vulnerable adult males, who are referred to our service by the Housing Advice Centre in Newcastle. We work in partnership with the city council and other specialist housing providers, towards a goal of reducing Newcastle's street homelessness to zero.

Most, if not all our customers come to us with challenging and complex backgrounds that might include alcohol and substance misuse, poverty, be from offending backgrounds, have trauma related experiences and have mental health that is extremely poor.

We offer very high-quality accommodation that accommodates up to 6 customers, feels immediately safe, secure and comfortable. We are generally full all the time.

We also support some customers who live in dispersed properties in the community with floating support. Customers are offered this if we feel that they are progressing well, or if they are street homeless, this could be a positive move for them.

You’ll help your customers through complimenting and integrating with existing support service networks for each individual. This could include but is not limited to, debt counsellors, employment advisors, resettlement, drug and alcohol specialists, health care professionals etc.  Support sessions will be delivered flexibly depending on the individual’s circumstances.

It’s not just about providing our customers with a home; it’s about building relationships with them. This means that when it comes to those situations that are a bit difficult or tricky (which do happen from time to time) that we make it easier to deal with.

Yes, you may have to deal with any anti-social behaviour. But it’s so much more than that. It’s also about building relationships and working closely with your colleagues to help your customers overcome tricky situations to live their best lives!

You’re unique!

Home Group play a big part in tackling prejudice and discrimination, not just for our customers, but colleagues too! You can be yourself here, because we value everything that makes you unique. So, whatever your age, race, sexuality, disability, religion, or gender identity, we recognise and celebrate our differences. Together we make Home Group a great place to work!

About you

You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. You’ll help change your customer’s lives (and our services) for the better by undertaking risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.

As a Support Coordinator you’ll prepare personalised support plans, which utilise customer strengths, aspirations, needs and enable them to live as independently as possible. Making sure they meet safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.

You’ll also have responsibility for coordinating our support workers, apprentices and volunteers, and working collaboratively with external agencies, to assess and engage support for our customers.

We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together we’ll make a difference!

If you’re not the biggest fan of technology, that’s not a problem to us. You do need to know that we are quite a high-tech company and most of our application process and mandatory learning are online. However, we’re glad to support you, if you need help.

It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however it’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!

As this is a community-based role, you’ll need to travel around to spend time with your customers. You could do this role using public transport, or if you drive and have access to a car that would also be amazing! (we pay your expenses to cover this use!)

When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
