Full Time & Part-time, Day & Night Shifts

Security is an integral part of the larger Estates and Facilities Department. They are responsible for supporting and delivering all aspects of security and facilities related services throughout Canterbury and the wider Campus Network.  The Security team aims to offer and deliver a flexible, value added and professional service to meet the need and expectations of students, staff and visitors. 

We are currently looking to recruit a number of Security Caretakers to the following positions: 

x4 Day Shift (Full-time)

x4 Night Shift (Full time)

x1 Night Shift (Part-time: 18.5 hours)

The successful candidate will have experience in security or a related customer service based area. Possessing wider skills in providing basic caretaking duties to meet the full requirements of the role would be an advantage.  Experience in the use of and monitoring access control/CCTV systems/fire alarm systems would also be an advantage as would a current SIA DS license.

The Person

Applicants will be able to demonstrate their customer focused skills, combined with effective written and verbal communication skills. They must be able to maintain the highest personal standards representing the front facing service of the University and to demonstrate the ability to deal with difficult and occasional stressful circumstances, in order to provide a clean, safe and secure environment for all students, staff and guests of the University.   The ability to assess situations and respond efficiently and effectively is an essential requirement for this role. Candidates will be motivated, target driven and keen to learn and develop new or existing professional skills.
