A competitive salary will be offered to an outstanding candidate.

Supporting the Vice-Chancellor and working closely with members of the University Executive Team, you will lead on strategic, financial and operational planning of the academic aspects of the university, taking responsibility for the overall academic vision of the institution and leading on academic change to achieve that vision.

The University of East Anglia has a reputation for high-quality research and research-led teaching. Founded in 1963, the University of East Anglia (UEA) is ranked in UK Top 25 (The Times/Sunday Times 2020 and Complete University Guide 2020) and the World Top 200 (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020), where it is in the top 50 for research citations, reflecting the international excellence of its research environment. It holds UK Teaching Excellence Framework Gold status.

At the heart of UEA’s innovative thinking is the principle of multi-institutional interdisciplinary collaboration. Situated on a compact modern campus on the edge of the historic city of Norwich, UEA lies on the Norwich Research Park (NRP) which is also home to the 1000-bed Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUHFT) and to four major international research institutes - the Earlham Institute, John Innes Centre, Quadram Institute and The Sainsbury Laboratory. There is no stronger concentration of world-leading pure and applied bioscience, alongside first-class clinical facilities, in the UK.

You will be of Professorial or equivalent standing, with a research reputation and profile commensurate with a senior academic leadership role. You will have a successful track record in the leadership and management of learning and teaching, and student experience in the Higher Education sector at a senior management level, as well as a thorough knowledge of the key planning issues impacting the Higher Education sector (including international context). With proven influencing skills and the ability to represent the University’s interests in policy debates at local, regional and national level you will be resilient and have the ability to take tough decisions and maintain a clear, well evidenced position in the face of disagreement.
