Want to play your part in shaping policy in London?

The Covid pandemic has had a profound impact on London and Londoners. The long-term impact is still emerging but responding to it will require fresh rethinking and new approaches to working collaboratively. The Health & Social Care Team is looking for a highly motivated person with initiative and the ability to work flexibly in what is a dynamic, quickly changing policy environment.

You will have experience of contributing to policy development in social care and services to vulnerable adults and children, and/or public health or related policy areas, with a good understanding of local government and its roles in a complex landscape.

You will be able to build effective relationships across sectors, communicate, negotiate with and influence a diverse range of people; have experience of creative problem solving and managing a varied workload in a pressurised environment.

In a rapidly changing environment, you will be helping London boroughs respond to the challenges of Covid and improving the health and wellbeing of Londoners, with a particular focus on children and young people and people in need of mental health and wellbeing support. The challenge ahead will be to enable strong leadership in the development of policy as London prepares for and starts the journey of social recovery and seeks to build back in ways which strengthen boroughs efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of all Londoners.

London Councils represents the 32 boroughs and the City of London. We aim to get the best deal for Londoners and to ensure that Londons councils have the resources, freedoms and powers to do the best possible job for their residents and local businesses.  We also run a number of services on behalf of the boroughs including the Freedom Pass, Taxicard and Health Emergency Badge.

Closing date for applications: Monday 1 March 2021.

Interview Date: Thursday 11 & Friday 12 March 2021.
