Political Adviser to the Labour Group

Starting salary £43,675 per annum

London Councils has a leading role in recovery from the pandemic to build back a more inclusive, fairer and sustainable city. You will contribute to the development of cutting-edge policy and strategy, supporting the Labour Group and its Leadership to deliver an ambitious cross-party vision for the city.

We also run a number of services on behalf of the boroughs including the Freedom Pass, Taxicard and Health Emergency Badge.

We are looking for someone with experience of dealing with politicians at a national and/or local level to act as adviser to the London Councils Labour Group. You will contribute to our work on behalf of London local government via your support to the Labour Group and London Councils overall.

A key part of the job will be to liaise with London’s Labour elected representatives at local, regional and national level. The individual will support the organisation and the Labour Group to build upon the existing partnership working with external stakeholders such as the Mayor of London and the wider GLA family. 

You will be a key interface between the wider organisation and the Labour Group, building constructive relationships within the organisation and able to work effectively in a cross-party environment ensuring a collaborative approach to deliver organisational objectives and priorities.

Experience of producing written reports, briefings, and draft speeches on policy issues is essential. You must be able to understand and reflect the political position of the Group and be able to represent the Labour Group at external meetings and events with authority and confidence.
