The BMA speaks for doctors at all stages of their careers and is a leading voice on a wide range of professional and political issues affecting medicine and health. We are looking to recruit a senior policy advisor to join our science and public health team on a permanent, full time contract.
The BMA`s science and public health team`s mission is to secure a public health system and policies that keep the public healthy. The team works closely with the BMA`s democratic structures to gather evidence, develop policy solutions, advice and guidance and lobby for and deliver policy change. With the continued response to COVID-19, Brexit and proposed changes to public health structures, our science and public health policy work has never been more important. By reviewing and assessing the latest research and scientific literature, we develop evidence-based recommendations for action.
Your role will be to help drive forward our programme of policy work, developing proposals that will help us influence the debate on science and public health policy areas of interest to our members across the UK. You will provide expert policy advice and guidance to a variety of audiences including senior staff, committees, chief officers and members, as well as producing briefings, guidance and other practical support materials and representing the BMA at external events as required.
You will need:
-experience of evidence-based policy development in a public health or health-related context
-have excellent writing skills
-sound judgement and be adept at delivering presentations
-influencing senior figures and managing relationships
