About the role

Phoenix Group has announced a strategic initiative to migrate the legacy in-house SLAL and SLIDAC policies over to TCS/ Diligenta.

This role will lead the accounting impacts, ensuring such change is delivered in a robust manner: highest quality standards, keeping to deadlines and budgets, whilst carefully managing significant impacts on business as usual operational activity.

 

Key Responsibilities

Operate as a business leader i.e. finalise business requirements, implementation of a solution, achieve business sign off, oversee organisational impacts and support embedding into business processes and systems.

Set up and lead a small team of business SMEs to deliver change working in conjunction with a programme manager and other support staff.

Support development and delivery of implementation plans and operating model principles and procedures.

Drive alignment (to the extent possible) of the operating model with similar processes and data feeds for Phoenix Life, enhancements to business processes and changes to third party oversight.

Define data reconciliations and business processes for banking, funding, reassurance, financial controls over outsourced partner.

Manage significant complexities throughout the end-to end process within the accounting operations, banking and reassurance landscape: operate with agility, flexibility and solutions-orientation. The role holder is expected to anticipate internal and/or external business challenges and recommend for solutions.

Manage third party and internal stakeholder groups across the business, accounting operations, unit pricing, actuarial reporting, banking, reassurance, tax, technology, sourcing and legal.

Maintain executive management level presence and focus severely compressed deadlines and contractual penalties for delays.

Drive operational readiness through appropriate business sign off from third parties and recipient departments in advance of go-live.

Manage significant interdependencies amongst other major change programmes.

Essential

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with extensive knowledge of finance operational and reporting processes

Technical skills and knowledge of accounting and reporting processes in a financial services organisation (preferably, a life insurer)

Leadership drive staff to a common goal whilst holding them accountable for day to day delivery

Stakeholder management, including influencing senior business leaders

Drive relationships and must have strong experience of influencing and negotiating with others

Act as an escalation point for resolution of complex issues or decisions

Strong facilitation skills

Previous experience of managing or leading significant policy migrations and their impact on finance
