About the role

An opportunity has arisen for two permanent Project Managers to join the Acquisition and Integration team. These roles will provide leadership, management and governance within high profile programmes in the Group & ServCo. Integration, and Migration domains. Ideal for candidates with strong project or programme management experience and a track record of delivery.

Your excellent stakeholder engagement, risk management and people leadership skills will be able to be utilised and grown within this portfolio of work stretching across most areas of the Phoenix business.  Individuals with particular experience in Finance, Integration, or policy migrations would be of particular interest, however this will not preclude strong candidates from being considered.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, lead and monitor project activities and people in order to achieve the stated project objectives - on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards

Give clear direction and leadership to the project team - ensuring that the identified vision and strategy for the project is effectively communicated

Agree Business case content with Sponsor and revisit this at regular intervals once baselined

Ensure project activity adheres to standard change process expectations

Proactively manage risks, issues and dependencies ensuring robust mitigation is in place understanding the level of impact

Actively control change and understand its impact on the wider portfolio

Present projects for review in the appropriate governance forums and project steering groups to demonstrate compliance and effective risk management

Lead the initial scoping of the project to ensure business case, project objectives, deliverables and success measures are appropriately defined

Produce high quality project documentation, including plans, actions, decisions, risks, issues, incidents and governance in line with project objectives

Identify and actively manage stakeholders throughout the project to ensure project sponsor, steering group and other stakeholders are kept informed of project progress

Take a holistic approach, and align projects/programme goals and objectives with strategic direction of the organisation

Lead important and complex initiatives with limited support

Provide consultancy and input to scoping of new ideas and process improvements when the opportunity arises

Apply project management tools and techniques appropriately to effectively manage the project to successful delivery

Secure and maintain the appropriate resources required to ensure project delivery

Manage the project budget, track trends and project future costs and time over/under runs

Oversee implementation of project solution (in appropriate phases)

Close the project in a controlled manner ensuring a lessons learned has been completed and the closure report is signed off by the Sponsors

Ensure the smooth transfer to BAU as part of closure and programme benefits are delivered to and owned by the business

Influence wider Project Team to ensure correct priorities are being worked on

Offer alternative approaches/solutions where appropriate e.g. in more complex situations

Provide appropriate challenge and constructive feedback on tasks performed within project/programme

Essential

Proven track record of handling of managing projects/programmes including the appropriate management methodologies and techniques

Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience of influencing senior level stakeholders

Ability to work positively with the wide range of individuals involved in the projects/ programmes

Strong leadership and management skills, able to create a sense of community amongst the members of the programmes

The ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems

Good negotiation skills

Project/Programme level financial/ budgetary skills

Experience of risk assessment and management principles and processes

Desirable

Prince 2 (or similar Project Management Accreditation)
