NOMINATIONS & REMUNERATION COMMITTEE MEMBER
Job Reference: JAHAFA
Closing Date: Noon on Tuesday 11th August 2020
We are NCT the national charity for pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. Founded in 1956, NCT is the UKs largest and best-known charity for all parents.
NCT has a vision of a world in which no parent is isolated. Every year we support 100,000 parents through antenatal education classes and infant feeding support. Across the four nations, we bring over 800,000 parents together through our postnatal programmes and volunteer-led community events.
NCT has a proud heritage of campaigning for positive change for all women and new parents but we know that in many areas of our work pregnancy, birth and early parenthood there is still significant work to do. For example, change is urgently required in terms of maternal outcomes for black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities.
As we emerge from the initial phase of Covid-19 crisis management, we have agreed a number of immediate priorities. Core to NCTs new strategy is becoming a more open, inclusive and diverse organisation so that we can support all parents, whoever they are, and whatever their situation. This is a top priority for us and like many organisations, we know we have a long way to go. Strengthening and diversifying our governance is integral to this strategy.
We wish to recruit someone with a track record in strategic people and change management plus experience in equality, diversity and inclusion practice, education and policy to join our Nominations & Remuneration Committee as an independent member. For this role we do not necessarily require prior non-executive experience, and anyone who has not served as a non-executive before will be supported to undertake the role successfully.
This recruitment exercise forms an important part of the Boards active succession planning strategy; over the next two years a number of trustees terms of office will come to an end and there will be opportunities for Committee members to express an interest in taking on full trusteeship (should they wish to do so). As a registered charity, all our Board and Committee roles are unremunerated. All reasonable expenses will be paid and we offer support to all Board and Committee members with training and development.
