Our operations production team captures, maintains, manages and delivers the most detailed location data in England, Scotland and Wales.
Every day we make 20,000 updates to our master map of Great Britain, which holds 500 million geospatial features. Using the latest geospatial technologies, were now driving innovation and investing in even faster ways to collect and provide data.
We want you to join us on our continuous drive for improvement. As an OS Surveyor, youll plan, collect, assess, edit and maintain geospatial information using relevant survey methods to meet customer requirements.
Roles available:
Were looking for Surveyors across GB with the potential to work nationwide or overseas. With a keen interest in people based in the following specific locations that could improve our geographic spread of surveyors.
Oxford, Pembrokeshire / Carmarthen, Birmingham, Plymouth, Newark / South Lincs, Stoke, Pontefract / Castleford, Skegness, Middlesbrough, Bury / M66, Oban, Central South London, Nottinghamshire / Mansfield, Maidenhead / Slough and North East Suffolk.
What were looking for:
Ideally having experience in the geospatial information industry, youll be a surveyor, or a keen learner. You may have a degree/similar qualification, or equivalent surveying experience, or have a passion to be part of this industry.
Youll be comfortable working independently, resilient, outdoors, a good collaborator and team player as part of a dispersed nationwide geographical team.
Essential:
Relevant geospatial information industry qualification or work experience e.g. geomatics/land surveying/geographic information systems (GIS)
Experience of data capture and edit platforms for measured survey/data collection e.g. total stations, GPS/GNSS, Ruggedised Tablets/PCs
Experience working outdoors in all weathers and conditions
Good spatial awareness
Good IT skills, especially using geographic information systems (GIS)
Good learner and a desire to continuously improve
Good communication and problem-solving skills
Good organisational skills, good at working independently
Good team player, particularly as part of a dispersed team
Able to travel, with some overnight stays in Great Britain, and potentially overseas
Full driving license
Desirable:
Experience in boundary surveying, land admin solutions, both cadastre and general boundaries
Experience in delivering to defined requirements/specifications
Membership of a relevant professional body
Important information to consider before you apply:
We need a good geographic spread of Surveyors, to help deliver and be efficient, therefore we need people to live in a specified location, or be willing to relocate to an agreed area on completion of initial training, but also need people to be flexible and willing to travel from their base for the role, this can be GB wide
Surveyors will need to work from home, with a suitable workspace
Spatial awareness is essential, and well test this at interview
Successful candidates must be available for a 10-week period of continuous training at our Head Office, Southampton, or in training blocks throughout the year at regionally based locations if appropriate. Details agreed up front and before start date
After initial training, surveyors will also be required to continue their development including attaining AssocRICS qualification
Surveyor roles are suitable for flexible working but not suitable for part-time or job share
