NORTHAMPTONSHIRE POLICE AND FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICES

Salary:  Up to £83,862 dependent on experience 

Location: Currently Wootton Hall Park, Northampton, pending relocation to Wellingborough, Northants, in early 2021

The Role 

Reporting to the Director for Enabling Services, the Chief Digital Officer will play a key role in making this change happen. Our pending relocation to a new combined HQ premises, presents a unique opportunity to bring together the best our organisations have to offer in IT and Digital service provision. This will enable the integration of teams, systems, processes, including a refresh of the joint technology estate, paving the way for the delivery of new IT and Digital services, to better meet the needs and expectations of our diverse range of service users. 

The Chief Digital Officer will deliver innovation to meet these user needs, driving the strategic thinking and direction of Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Services from an IT and Digital perspective, as part of a dynamic Senior Leadership Team. This strategy will include identifying and maximising  opportunities for  advancing technology,  introducing agile principles and practice in IT and Digital service design and development and continuously improving the customer experience to position the Force and the Fire and Rescue Service as exemplars of best practice in our sector. 

The Person 

Currently working in a senior IT and Digital Leadership role in either the public or commercial sector, you will possess proven experience of leading IT transformational initiatives in complex and dynamic environment, including taking advantage of new digital opportunities to innovate business models, enabling  deep based digitalisation of an organisation and it’s engagement with customers. You will have substantial operational experience, coupled with a track record of strategic delivery, leading a function of significant scale and complexity, including experience of merging teams and integration of systems and processes to create unified service offerings. 

You will be an adept technologist, able to articulate and translate complex technology solutions into simple to understand outcomes, centred around meeting user needs. Developing and securing executive level support for your IT and Digital strategy, you will have successfully established a clear line of sight between technology choices and their contribution towards meeting the strategic business objectives of your organisation.
