The Centre for Ageing Better seeks to bring aboutlong-lasting changes so that more people approaching later life are in goodhealth and fulfilling work and live in safe and accessible homes and connectedcommunities. Established in 2015 with an endowment from the National Lottery CommunityFund, the Centre is widely recognised as a leading authority on ageing issues.It has already influenced aspects of housing, work and health policy, as wellas the Governments industrial strategy and later life planning. Its reachcovers a combined population of 21 million across 40 local areas through the UKNetwork of Age-friendly Communities.

The Centres priority is now to deliver resultsand it is therefore further developing its Board capability to ensure that thefull range of backgrounds and perspectives are in place for the crucialimplementation phase. We are looking for up to three new trustees and areparticularly interested in people who understand the levers for achieving largescale change and shifts in consumer attitudes and behaviours.

 

Direct experience in at least one of thefollowing will be essential:

- experience of financial management and oversightgained at a senior, strategic level

-senior operational leadership experience gained ina large, complex commercial and customer led organisation that serves a diversepopulation or customer base

-experience of gathering and utilising customerinsight or promoting products or services to large, diverse customer bases.

We are also interested in hearing from people whoare close to the experiences of those living in more deprived communities.  

Wherever you are now, you will be clear andconfident in the role of charity governance and committed to the delivery oflasting impact and change. The Centre wishes to improve the diversity of itsBoard through a focus on broadening its ethnic mix, age profile and cognitivediversity.
