This is a unique opportunity to join a talented team of scientists at the cutting edge of next-generation sequencing (NGS).  


As a Research Associate in the Integrated Biochemistry group in the Advanced Platform Technology Development Department you will work in a dynamic and team-oriented environment and assess the feasibility of new technologies that could be implemented in future Illumina sequencers and products.


Job duties include but are not limited to:


Working as an R&D scientist developing Illuminas next generation of sequencers and sequencing technologies
Performing sequencing runs and using various assays to assess protein function and stability
Helping develop, assess and optimize new or existing laboratory techniques and assay workflows
Recognizing potential problems, understanding and troubleshooting assays
Preparing reports, presenting results and communicating effectively with colleagues
Working as part of a scientific team and participating in team meetings and initiatives
Working flexibly in a fast-paced and dynamic R&D environment


Essential skills:


Proven laboratory experience
Solid understanding of biochemistry and molecular biology
Knowledge and practical experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR/qPCR, electrophoresis) and enzyme kinetics
Working knowledge or background of NGS would be advantageous
Detail-oriented, organized, ability to implement protocols and keep good notes in a lab notebook
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Fluency in basic computer skills (Microsoft Office suite and statistical analysis software)


Education:
BSc degree in the life sciences or equivalent.
