Job Description

12 month internship

You will be performing such studies under supervision of Illumina scientists. As you build expertise you will become project owners for collaboration studies. You will receive full training regarding the operation of state-of-the art DNA sequencing technology as well as data interpretation. Additional regular duties will involve maintaining the lab environment & equipment.

Roles & Responsibilities

Using the suite of instruments and biophysical techniques available in-house, the intern will baseline characterize a material/ reagent used in ILMN sequencers

Extensive training will be provided to enable candidate to use techniques/instruments such as HPLC, Differential Scanning Fluorescence, Octet binding assays and Circular Dichroism

A stretch goal for the internship is to devise new metrology based on the intern's findings

The intern will be responsible for enhancing ILMN's knowledge of chosen material/ reagent and disseminating the results across research and development

This will give the intern an excellent background in the main biophysical techniques used across the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. This will be an exciting opportunity to bring together the findings from these cutting-edge techniques into the context of our own next generation sequencing technologies.

Requirements

Current studying towards Masters or at least 2nd year in a Bachelors degree

Preferred degrees are biochemistry, chemistry. molecular biology or related subject

Excellent communication and interaction skills within a multi-disciplinary team and cross-functional departments

Detail oriented with excellent hands-on laboratory and experimental skills
