EMEA Director of Facilities

You will lead all EMEA regional facilities related activities covering all aspects of the facilities lifecycle: real estate site strategies and planning, real estate transactions, construction management, facilities operations, including validation and compliance, site services and events management along with workplace services.

Our Illumina EMEA operations are headquartered in Cambridge, UK, housing R&D, Commercial and Regional G&A functions with 600+HC housed in 15,000+ SM. Additionally we have distribution and customer service functions in Eindhoven, Netherlands and commercial offices in various countries across EMEA.

Your principal responsibilities include direct management of facilities staff and functions and internal client relationship management with the Illumina EMEA senior leadership team to align facilities efforts to effectively enable Illuminas business across the region. This role reports into the Senior Director of Global Real Estate & Construction.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for translating strategic priorities into physical reality; aligning communication, accountabilities, resource capabilities, internal processes, and ongoing measurement systems to ensure that strategic priorities yield measurable and sustainable results

Responsible for creating and leading regional strategic infrastructure plans and executing operational plans and strategies with a 3-5-year time horizon pertaining to real estate and facilities in our high growth organization

Interacts with executive and senior management in facilities to inform and influence major real-estate strategies, capital investments and decisions

Provides direction to Global Facilities Management Services (GFMS) team in the region to create plans, budgets, and schedules facility purchases, construction and modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs.

Direct the planning, response and recovery operations for emergency situations and disaster recovery and coordinate the development and implementation of associated response plans.

Mobilizing available internal and external resources (customers, peers, cross-functional partners, and external vendors and suppliers) to achieve organizational goals

Responsible for sound operation and maintenance of facility MEP systems inclusive of implementation and continued operation of validated CMMS/AMMS work order management system.

Ensure GLP compliance and maintain controlled space and systems with supporting documentations where applicable.

Leads expansion activities including the identification and construction of new facilities including sales offices, distribution, and R&D sites.

Ensure that systems and procedures within the department follow and not limiting to companys adopted ISO standards and regulations

Keeps abreast of new workspace concepts to drive innovation and collaboration and occupational efficiency.

Requirements:

Experience developing and driving regional real estate strategies, and infrastructure capabilities and redundancies.

Experience leading and managing teams and projects in region in a fast-paced and high-growth environment.  Ability to build and sustain a high performing team.

Proven ability to manage multi-million dollar projects and budgets.

Possess technical, business and financial acumen.  Ability to write, communicate and develop presentations at all levels of the organization.

Collaborative, able to integrate and bring together individuals under common goals and accountabilities

Comfortable with dealing with ambiguity and continuing change in a fast paced and growing hi-tech company

Proven experience in managing expense and capital budgets over $30M annually

Experience/Education:

BS Degree in Engineering or related facilities discipline or masters degree in Engineering or facilities related discipline

Significant experience in (combined) real estate, facilities operations and management, administration, purchasing, contracting, project and construction management, ideally in a biotechnology, life sciences or pharmaceutical related industry, although related fields would be considered

Previous supervisory and management experience, ideally leading multiple functions and in a global matrix organization.

Knowledge and application of environmental, health and safety regulations and familiarity with EHS regulatory agencies protocols.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experiences lists above.
