We’re looking for a digital communications officer to join the Greater London Authority’s digital communications team at City Hall, London. You will manage our GLA business and Mayor of London social media and digital comms channels. If you’re a digital comms and/or social media whiz with experience of running public-facing digital channels, we’d love to hear from you.

This is an interesting, busy and challenging job. You’ll be at the heart of our efforts to engage Londoners in what we do. You’ll work across our digital comms channels including Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and email. You will draft and post content, monitor channel engagement and lead on projects relating to marketing campaigns (such as our #LondonNeedsYouAlive campaign), ensuring Londoners are informed of relevant information and services.

You’ll be a self-starter who can work without direct supervision. Your communication skills will be second to none, and you’ll have top notch copywriting skills. You should be as confident dealing with senior staff out-of-hours as you are with members of the public. You’ll need to understand what it means to work for a socially and politically sensitive organisation. It would be great if you knew a bit about the wider GLA group and London’s government too.

You should have experience of using social media for marketing, customer service or PR campaigns. Ideally, you’ll have worked in a similar role for a high-profile government or public-sector role. You will also be familiar with content management systems and email marketing CRMs.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate. If that sounds like you, please apply below.

*Working patterns will vary across a four-week shift plan to cover 7am-10pm, Monday-Sunday. An example shift pattern is available to view in the job description document*

This role is based at City Hall.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.

If you have a question about the role or the recruitment process then please contact a member of the recruitment team via email on glajobs@london.gov.uk quoting reference GLA3682.

Closing date: 17 November 2019.

Interview date: Week commencing Monday 2 December to take place at City Hall
