Diversity and Inclusion Project Lead

Grade 7 (£30,395 to £34,189)

Fixed Term until August 2023

The Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Student Ambassador project aims to promote wellbeing and improve outcomes (specifically attainment and student experience) for targeted groups of students including Black Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) under-graduate students and those from low-socio-economic groups.

You will work within the Peer Assisted Learning Team, a central service in the Directorate of Student Services, leading on the delivery of the University’s Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador Project. Working closely with the designated contact in Manchester Metropolitan’s Student Union to develop a network of student ambassadors from targeted groups and support them to develop and deliver a range of events and activities. You will also work in partnership with the students to set out a method to identify and evaluate student led activity, monitoring and evaluation interventions and reporting back into a Steering Group.

The key focus of this role is to liaise with both students and staff to implement actions that feed into project and University objectives whilst working closely with the Student Union Officer to promote the programme to students and to develop and deliver training to the ambassadors.

Some of the key responsibilities of your role will be:

• To be the main point of contact in the University for the Diversity and Inclusion Student Ambassador programme.

• To develop the Ambassador programme in partnership with the Students' Union and targeted faculties and have a strong focus on monitoring and evaluating its impact.

• Collaborate with colleagues across the University to review, develop and improve current practice for diversity and inclusion.

• To empower students to tackle negative impacts of stereotyping by developing safe spaces for dialogue and increasing students sense of belonging.

• You will be educated to degree level, have experience of delivering projects and events involving students and have knowledge of equal opportunities legislation and commitment to equality of opportunity and Widening Participation.
