Job Description

Catering and Retail Services (CRS) has the responsibility for the provision of catering facilities to Members, their guests, Staff of the House and visitors.  It also provides a private function service to Members of the House and sells House of Lords gifts and souvenirs in the Gift Shop.

The Role

The post of Marketing and Communications Coordinator has three main objectives:  

1.   To use existing print and online resources to produce effective marketing material on a daily basis, as well as persuasive marketing campaigns to attract and acquire new customers and to promote the services of CRS to all on the Parliamentary estate and the public.

2.   To help develop the CRS marketing strategy and lead the operational delivery of CRS marketing communication initiatives, ensuring effective monitored and measured results.

3.   To facilitate effective communications and good customer service activities within CRS, and on behalf of CRS within the Administration, the House of Commons and wider stakeholders.

The Person

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:

Demonstrable experience of working in a communications, customer relations and/or marketing environment.

The ability to think ahead to spot or create opportunities and maximise them.

Proven experience of developing and delivering promotional campaigns.

Proven experience of planning and delivering events.

Flexibility to respond to requests and changes at short notice, and still able to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.

Problem-solving skills, maintaining a high level of accuracy and eye for detail whilst under pressure.

To be able to work on your own and as part of a team in a high profile and pressured environment.Demonstrable experience of using digital (content management systems and social media platforms) and print (desktop publishing such as InDesign) environments creatively and effectively.
