Support Worker
Based from Hazel Road, Woolston delivering support across Southampton
Full Time 37.5 hours per week
Permanent
Salary £17,600 to £18,000 pa rising to £19,200 through length of service

Come and join our amazing team of colleagues in Southampton, where we are making a difference to the lives of vulnerable customers in Southampton daily. 
Southampton Housing Related support service works with customers who have mental ill health, a learning disability or those who find themselves in need of housing support.  We work with customers in their home or in the community to deal with immediate crisis and improve their engagement in their neighbourhood and their wellbeing, giving them the confidence and tools to live independently following our involvement which can be for a few weeks up to two years.
We provide one to one support and work with our customers in small groups to build their confidence. We achieve that by focusing on activities that interest them from knitting to walking and so much in between! You’re encouraged to use your skills to innovate and provide value added support in our service - a win win for customers and colleagues!
 
About our team
You’ll work alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements.  To us were not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. Our manager is Judy who has been with the organization for an incredible 26 years!  There are currently 6 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too! Your new colleagues are Colette, Deb, Harjit, Louise, Mel and Wendy, and there will be colleagues from other teams that you will get to know as well!
 
Working hours
You will mainly be working Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm but we need you to have some flexibility, as we are a customer focused service.
 
About you
You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds.  You may already have experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively, but it is not essential and training will be provided.
We help change our customer’s lives for the better. You’ll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, and their needs and aspirations. You’ll work with our Senior Support Workers and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers. We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together we’ll make a difference!
If you’re not the biggest fan of technology, that’s not a problem to us. You do need to know that we are quite a high tech company and most of our application process and mandatory learning are online. However we’re glad to support you, if you need help. 
It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however it’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!
As this is a community based role, you’ll need to travel around to spend time with your customers. You could do this role using public transport, or if you drive and have access to a car that would also be amazing! (we pay your expenses to cover this use!)
If you are successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we’ll pay for.
