The Financial Conduct Authority is the conduct regulator for 58,000 financial services firms and financial markets in the UK and the prudential regulator for over 18,000 of those firms. The FCA works with the industry to protect consumers, ensure the integrity of the UK financial system and promote fair and effective competition.

The FCA is seeking to recruit a new Head of Department to join their Audit Division, wholl serve as a deputy and strategic foil to the Chief Auditor as and when required.

The Internal Audit Division is committed to providing the FCA with a first-rate independent business assurance function. It fulfils a critical role in the effective management and governance of the FCA. Its responsibilities are wider than a standard internal audit function and involve assessments of broader areas of strategy and organisation and one-off investigations. Internal Audit reports to the Board and the Audit Committee.

The HoD for Internal Audit will have a unique overview and insight into all areas of the FCA and exposure to a varied and interesting audit universe.

This person will assist in the development and delivery of the three year strategic internal audit plan and drive the adoption and innovative solutions in the delivery of internal audit services.

This person will be influential in shaping the strategic direction of a small and dynamic division as well as having the opportunity to shape business process and influence change at senior management level, by representing the division at Board Committee meetings.

Requirements:

Significant internal and/or external audit experience at a senior level

Member of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors, Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales (ICAEW) or any other equivalent professional body
