Finance Director

Motability is a charity, incorporated by Royal Charter, which oversees the Motability Scheme, enabling 625,000 disabled people and their families to access transport options which are suitable for them. Through the provision of cars, scooters and wheelchairs, the Motability Scheme gives people the freedom to get to work or college, meet with friends, enjoy day trips with their families, attend medical appointments and, in general, enjoy more fulfilled and autonomous lives. Motability provides strategic direction and oversight of the Scheme, which is delivered by Motability Operations.

Motability now seeks a new Finance Director who will be capable of deputising for the Director and being a key leader within the organisation. They will be required to provide strategic and financial advice to Governors, the Director and the wider Executive Team, ensuring that Motability remains a high-functioning, efficient and effective charity. Externally, the Finance Director will be a key public face of the Charity and it is expected that they will play a crucial role in Motability’s internal growth and external reputation building. Due to the Charity’s relationship with Motability Operations, one of Europe’s largest car leasing companies, this person will be expected to work closely with a major commercial enterprise.

The successful applicant will be a commercially-focused senior leader, with experience of working in a complex environment. They will be a qualified accountant with an adaptable approach and the confidence, gravitas and expertise necessary to succeed in a charitable environment while also engaging effectively with external, commercial partners. They will be strategically adept, communicative and a collaborative person with an affinity for Motability’s values and mission.
