Job Description

We are recruiting for a Senior Technical Advisor to provide expert advice on the prevention of and response to violence against women.

ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Our dedicated local staff are ending violence against women and girls and helping change lives, for good. We wont stop until women and girls are out of danger, out of poverty and on track to create the future they want.

The Research and Programmes Policy unit at ActionAid is comprised of research, policy and technical advisers who advance policy perspectives and programme led learning to ActionAid UKs target donors, influencers, academic audiences and policy makers.

A key purpose of the technical advisers in the unit is to bring highly specialised technical advice to programme design, resource mobilisation, programme quality and influencing work that will support AAUKs ambitious contributions to Federation resource mobilisation and influencing work.

We are now recruiting for a Senior Technical Specialist to provide expert advice on the prevention of and response to violence against women.

You will play a key role in the proposal development process, working with a number of colleagues to develop a strong technical approach, workplan, log frame and budget.

You will also take responsibility for ensuring that the proposals which are developed for our donors, champion ActionAids theory of change and our human rights-based approach.

In order to succeed within this role, you must have strong field experience in developing, supporting and evaluating the impact of programmes designed to improve knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding violence against women in an international development and a humanitarian setting.

We are keen to receive applications from those with proven knowledge and experience of designing and implementing community mobilisation and social norm change methodologies.

If you have this along with experience of monitoring and evaluation of VAWG programmes and experience of working with vulnerable population groups and community and traditional leaders, this may be the role for you.

ActionAid is committed to driving improvement through digital channels, tools€¯and ways of working.€¯We will ensure that we provide the technology and the training to enable all staff to perform their roles to the best of their abilities. In return, we ask that all staff are committed to continually improving their€¯digital skills and knowledge€¯within the working environment.€¯Our recruitment processes will evaluate the digital skills of all applicants.€¯

Interviews for this role will take place during the week commencing the 10th of June 2019.
