Media Officer (Interim)

We are recruiting for a Media Officer to play a key role during the launch of a major public campaign (Access to Justice) and a major brand project (Women by Women).

ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Our dedicated local staff are ending violence against women and girls and helping change lives, for good. We wont stop until women and girls are out of danger, out of poverty and on track to create the future they want.

We are recruiting for a Media Officer to work with us for four months whilst we launch a major public campaign (Access to Justice) and a major brand project (Women by Women).

The main purpose of this job is to support the team to deliver high profile earned media coverage to achieve ambitious KPIs and support organsoational objectives to drive barns and income. This will include developing media plans to support major proactive projects, producing press materials, supporting reactive function of team, handling media enquiries and liaising with journalists and other media contacts to make ActionAid UK the go to agency on the rights of women and girls and deliver organisational objectives.

In order to succeed within this role, you must have proven experience of securing high profile media coverage, as you will be tasked with writing media releases, op-eds and blogs for multiple fast paced workstreams.

You must also have experience of working in news and PR across print and broadcast channels, combined with a strong knowledge of and demonstrable engagement in current affairs, international development and womens rights.

Part of this role will be to support other members of your team with building strong relationships with journalists, so you must have a proven ability to build a strong internal and external network with identified individuals across the media industry.

The post holder for this role must have a proven ability to respond appropriately in a highly reactive or crisis situation; they must also be able to manage deadlines and rapidly changing priorities.

If you have this skill set, along with the ability to work collaboratively and to contribute effectively in a complex, matrix environment with a focus on agile project working, this may be the role for you.

An understanding of working within the International Development sector would be an advantage.

Please note that this role is being offered as a fixed term contract for four months.
