Job Description

The CIPD is the professional body for experts in people at work. For more than 100 years, we've been championing better work and working lives by setting professional standards for HR and people development professionals, as well as driving positive change in the world of work.

There is now an opportunity for a new Legal and Governance Director to join the CIPD. Reporting to the Chief Executive and the Board, this person will play a crucial role in a commercially astute organisation, with charitable status and a membership council. The challenges and opportunities of the CIPDs role, mission, and aspirations mean that it requires a Legal and Governance Director capable of adding strategic value, while maintaining best-in-class processes and procedures of governance.

The successful candidate will be a qualified chartered secretary (preferably FCIS), or suitably qualified lawyer or accountant, with significant management experience at a senior level, with the ability to quickly establish their credibility, integrity and authority at the most senior levels, including with board members. They will be intellectually curious, robust in their approach but team-orientated, and more than capable of being an external voice for the CIPD when appropriate.

Applications, including a CV and a covering letter addressed to Peter Cheese, CEO, should be received by noon on Thursday 7th of March 2019.

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to the CIPD on this appointment.
