The Office for Students (OfS) was established by the Higher Education and Research Act in 2017 and became fully operational in April 2018. OfS`s primary aim is to ensure that English higher education is delivering positive outcomes for students - past, present, and future. The External Relations directorate leads the OfS`s work on external and internal communications, public affairs and informing students.
The Directorate is responsible for media relations and planning, digital communications, multimedia support, student information and engagement, stakeholder engagement and parliamentary support, publications, events and public information.
The purpose of the role `Surveys Manager` is to lead and manage the Surveys team to deliver the annual UK-wide National Student Survey data collection and publication cycle, to support its ongoing development, to lead the early stage development of a feedback survey for taught postgraduate surveys and advise on other ad-hoc surveys throughout the year.
Key responsibilities include; designing and delivering activities to ensure the survey remains robust and fit for purpose; leading the design and implementation of approach to collecting feedback from undergraduate students not currently included in the NSS; managing whistleblowing allegations and drafting papers, reports and correspondence. The role also requires engagement with internal and external stakeholders to manage effective relations with providers and other external organisations and to ensure information on student surveys is effectively shared across OfS. As a manager at OfS, there is also the responsibility of contributing to continuous improvement ensuring effective links between different areas of work in the directorate.
In this role, the postholder may support SRU projects from time to time.
The key person attributes to fulfil this role are:
1.ability to motivate and lead a high performing team;
2.excellent understanding of the design and management of social surveys;
3.excellent communication skills - ability to influence and communicate with internal and external stakeholders;
4.exercise judgement in working with complex and sensitive information.
Location: Bristol based, however some travel may be required.
The role is full time.
