Senior Technical Specialist- Adolescent Girls programming

ActionAid UK are currently recruiting for a Senior Technical Specialist to focus on their Adolescent Girls Programming.

ActionAid UK are currently recruiting for a Senior Technical Specialist to focus on their Adolescent Girls Programming. This is a post which is funded by a key strategic grant by the Peoples Postcode Lottery and will play a key role in supporting the management of Adolescent Girls (AG) components of the strategic grant.         

The role sits within the International Development Policy and Practice team, which is comprised of members supporting financial resource mobilisation, grant/ contract management, programmatic innovation, research and learning towards this end.

The post holder will take responsibility for supporting the business development teams within the department, with the conceptualisation of funding proposals and interventions based on best practice in Adolescent Girls programming.

They will also focus on providing guidance to the Business Development teams on strategic partners for consortia building during the development of competitive bids and tenders.

The Senior Technical Advisor Adolescent Girls Programming, will support the Programme Quality and Assurance teams with technical advice, especially during the programme implementation phase of a newly acquired programme under the ActionAid UK contract.

Applicants must have a qualification in public health, child protection, child development, social work or a related field.

They must also have extensive in-country experience in the global South of implementing adolescent girls programming in GBV/ life skills, SRHR, AG in emergencies.

To be successful in this role, you must have proven knowledge and experience of community mobilisation and social norm change methodologies, along with experience of monitoring and evaluating AG programmes, particularly GBV focused and life skills interventions.

We are looking to recruit an individual with the demonstrable ability to create curricula and training manuals, who also has successful experience of facilitating and delivering training.

Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills, including proven success in communicating in challenging and cross-cultural contexts.

They must also have a strong track record in a technical advisory role, with a proven ability to produce demonstrable results.

Experience of international development/humanitarian donors of strategic relevance to AAUK - including DFID, Comic relief, ECHO, BigLlottery, UN, START Network, DEC and the UN, will be an advantage.

Applicants must also have the ability to travel overseas, often to insecure environments for short periods of time, several times a year.
