Job Description

Practice Improvement Adviser - Social Work

Do you want to help us achieve our vision of children living free from the threat and harm of sexual abuse?

The Centre of expertise on child sexual abuse (the CSA Centre), was launched in February 2017. Our aim is to create a future where children are free from the threat and harm of sexual abuse by radically improving how we prevent and respond to the issue through really understanding its causes, scope, scale and impact.

Funded by the Home Office and hosted by Barnardo's, we are independent and will challenge any barriers, assumptions, taboos and ways of working that prevent us from increasing our understanding and improving our approach to tackling child sexual abuse.

We are focused on building knowledge and understanding by:

Collating and analysing existing research, policy, practice and the real experiences of those affected, and filling the gaps we identify with new research, insights and analysis.

Using that evidence and insight to challenge and improve existing policy and practice, develop new approaches and increase everyone's knowledge and confidence to more effectively tackle the issue.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a unique, dynamic, multi-disciplinary team as Practice Improvement Adviser Social Work

We are particularly looking for someone with:

Specialist/professional knowledge of practice improvement

Detailed working knowledge of, and experience in a relevant field addressing Child Sexual Abuse and Child Sexual Exploitation

A professional qualification in a relevant field

A demonstrable record of working constructively with partner agencies, commissioners and/or other stakeholders, in a way that enhances organisational reputation

Skills in developing and delivering dynamic presentations and workshops

Although nominally based at our Barkingside office, we are open to applications from people from around the country. There will be a minimum expectation of attendance at meetings in our London offices but the nature of the role allows a high level of flexibility in terms of location and hours.

If you want to have a confidential discussion about the role please contact Anna Glinski on 07522 216017.
