Minimum of 20 hours per year

One of the North East’s leading providers of housing, care and support, Thirteen employs around 1,500 people and owns or manages just under 34,000 homes in an area spanning North Tyneside to York.

As a housing association, Thirteen provides a range of high quality affordable homes, managing general needs, sheltered and supported housing and providing home ownership options. This variety reflects the wide needs and aspirations of our customers. Our care and support services assist vulnerable clients with complex needs to face a range of challenges.

The Thirteen Board has four committees with delegated responsibility for specific functions to support the delivery of our strategic objectives.

We are looking for people who have the capability to operate effectively at a strategic level and have the passion and commitment to become a member of one of our committees, particularly those with the following skills:

Accounting / treasury management

Assurance and risk management

HR / People management

Experience of the social housing sector

These opportunities are for individuals with the highest degree of integrity, ensuring that our Committees effectively accept accountability, take collective responsibility and achieve objectives. You must be able to influence decision-making, provide strategic leadership and work collaboratively to inspire constructive debate around key issues. Ultimately, you will be viewed as an ambassador and role model for Thirteen.

Exceptional candidates must be able to demonstrate a principled and ethical approach, along with the ability to collaborate with and inspire others. A strong track record in understanding and mitigating risk, and managing performance to deliver economy, effectiveness and efficiency is also required. A sound understanding of social housing, particularly in relation to governance, regulation and compliance, would be ideal.
