Job Description

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is a small and highly ambitious organisation, who recognises that technology is a key enabler to achieving our vision of being an excellent Fire and Rescue Service. We are seeking a Business Application Manager who will make a significant contribution to organisational change.

Business Application Manager 

Based at Service Headquarters, Kempston 

Hours: 37 per week (With flexitime benefits) 

Salary: £42,806 rising to £50,122 per annum

The ideal candidate will be an innovative, forward-thinking, IT professional, experienced in developing, supporting and maintaining multiple core business applications to enhance organisational performance. You should be used to being accountable for outcomes, meeting targets and objectives. You should be able to work collaboratively, at a range of levels across the business, have the confidence to take responsibility and communicate effectively.

The role requires the technical expertise and management skills to lead a small team in managing software applications, in house development options and integration services.  The role will develop and maintain the Services Enterprise Architecture and develop and manage the performance reporting and data analytics capability to drive informed decision making.

The post holder will act as a deputy for the Head of IT and provide a credible voice in leading, mentoring and developing a high performing team of 6 consisting of Software Integration, Performance Analysis and Business Systems Support, to deliver tangible, measurable benefits to the delivery of our services, maximising return on investment. 

Applicants must have management experience and an understanding of software integration and application development as well as Agile methodology. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels across the organisation both orally and in writing is essential as is a  sound understanding of Information Security controls and Data Protection requirements.
