Job Description

Would you like to join a small, dynamic team developing designing and maintaining excellent web services to support all Corporate and e-learning web systems at the University of Chichester? We have a new role which will provide interesting, stimulating work that really makes a difference, in a beautiful campus environment between the South Downs National Park and coast.

You must be technically astute and a good problem solver, with the ability to learn new skills and adapt quickly to ideas, concepts and customer requirements. The post holder will have experience with a wide range of web systems and programming languages including JavaScript, (JQuery, JSON), Drupal and PHP.

You will have constructed and managed projects with technical and customer facing elements, and will need to demonstrate excellent presentation and communication skills which enable you to present in a clear and confident manner to a variety of audiences. Working with our students and staff, you will be responsible for the design and maintenance of excellent web services and will be pivotal in turning a conceptual requirement into a working and technically robust solution.

We are looking for a developer that brings with them an aptitude for web coding and ideally experience of web integration methods. Understanding of mobile applications, PC operating systems and of web browsers are also desirable.

Whilst able to work independently, you will also be encouraged to work collaboratively; participating in the development of relevant initiatives across the Departments, to ensure effective development and delivery of services across the University.

The successful candidate must bring significant experience of using learning technologies.  You will also need to be a team member, with an innovative approach to build on new ideas, who brings enthusiasm and a flexible and helpful attitude to work. You will be supported in further technical skills development and professional development.

Informal enquiries are welcomed by Haydn Tarr, Service Development Manager, via email at H.Tarr@chi.ac.uk  telephone 01243816153

The University of Chichester welcomes applicants from BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) backgrounds as they are currently under represented at this level.
