Job Description

We have an exciting new opportunity within the University of Chichester Institute of Sport.  We are looking for a Research Assistant to provide assistance primarily with the delivery of a health evaluation of an EU funded project called Step by Step (SBS) on a three year fixed term contract.  SBS aims to empower men to move from poor health &/or isolation to healthy social participation or active engagement in the labour market, through community groups based on the model of Men's Sheds.  The target group for SBS is specifically men and in particular those who may be socially isolated and suffering from poor mental health or poor wellbeing, however the project will also be open to women. The project is being delivered by partner organisations in the UK (Hampshire and Kent county councils), France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

This role will support the principal researcher in the delivery of a comprehensive evaluation of the project.  The Research Assistant will have responsibility for participant recruitment, data collection, data collation, data analysis, literature reviews, report writing, co-ordination of other temporary research staff and undertake administrative tasks to support the successful delivery of the project.

The successful candidate will have a Masters level qualification in a subject related to health and wellbeing, knowledge and experience of qualitative as well as quantitative methods and analysis.

Informal enquiries are welcomed by Dr Ruth Lowry, Reader in the Psychology of Active Living via email at R.Lowry@chi.ac.uk or telephone 01243 816309

This position will require a Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) which will be undertaken by the University on appointment.

The University of Chichester welcomes applicants from BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) backgrounds as they are currently under represented at this level.
