About Time to Change Global

Over the last decade Time to Change have been challenging mental health stigma and discrimination in England, and mutually sharing learning, materials and methodologies with many other countries.

With funding from the Department for International Development (awarded through a grant from the Department of Health and Social Care) we have launched a new two-year global programme to support people with lived experience, local communities, and local NGOs in low and lower middle income countries to combat stigma.

Three new Global posts have been created, that will sit alongside the existing team in England. Applicants for the roles of Global Head of Community Leadership, Global Head of Programme Management, and Global Communications and Digital Manager will need expertise in the international development sector, as well as the specific experience and skills relevant to each role.

Lead by local NGOs and champions with lived experience, seven pilot campaigns will be delivered in Africa and Asia, and a global learning community and toolkit created. The programme outcomes are increased empowerment and confidence (to tackle stigma) amongst lived experience champions, increased levels of confidence and skills to tackle stigma amongst Campaign Coordinators, and improved public attitudes.

The TTC Global team will work in partnership with local NGOs, international mental health NGOs, local people with mental health problems and their communities to build capacity and skills, within relevant cultural contexts, to address stigma and discrimination.

Being able to adapt materials and approaches to a wide range of cultures and contexts, with limited resources and infrastructures, will be key aspects of these roles.

Whilst the funding for TTC Global is for two years (all roles are funded until March 2020), it is our ambition is to secure additional funding to expand this programme and, in time, to extend it beyond this initial two-year phase.

Wherever you live in the world you should not be made to feel worthless, isolated or ashamed because of your mental health problem.
