Job Description

United Kingdom

Leading the way in public and patient safety

We have an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse or midwife to join our Council.

Our job is to protect the public. We do this through effective regulation of nurses and midwives. With around 690,000 nurses and midwives on our register, we are the largest professional regulator in the UK.

Our ambition is to be a dynamic, intelligent, leading regulator. Our current focus is on shaping the nurses and midwives of the future, setting a new strategic direction for how we approach fitness to practise and getting ready to regulate the new nursing associate role.

As a Council member you will play a vital role in strengthening nursing and midwifery regulation to improve public and patient safety. You will need a strategic approach, sound judgement and the ability to work as part of a team to reach critical decisions.

Preferably, you will have some experience of working at board level or contributing to national projects or initiatives. We welcome interest from candidates with experience of senior level leadership or delivery of community-based nursing services.

You can live or work in any of the four countries of the UK. You will need to commit your skills, energy and experience to the NMC for approximately three days a month and will receive an annual allowance of £14,724.

You can learn more about, and apply for, this role through www.gatenbysanderson.com quoting reference GSe42148. For a confidential discussion about the role, please contact Katrina Paget or Mark Turner on 020 7426 3994.

Closing date for applications is: 12:00 noon, 29 May 2018.

Interviews will be held in London on 23 July 2018, with a view to appointment in early September 2018.

We want the membership of our Council to reflect the diversity of society. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals and are committed to ensuring that all applicants are treated fairly, with respect and without bias.
