Great Britain’s gambling industry is in a constant state of change, fuelled by shifting consumer behaviour and the rapid growth of technology. It’s high profile politically too, and the legislation controlling gambling is constantly under scrutiny. Within this uniquely challenging and evolving environment, The Gambling Commission’s role is to ensure that gambling is crime free, fair and open - and that children and vulnerable people are protected.

The gambling market is a modern one, working to adapt to all the challenges that today’s business world brings. It covers a myriad of products, industries, technologies, consumer trends, expectations and legal frameworks.

The Gambling Commission is looking for a Gambling Industry Specialist to join them on a 12 month maternity cover contract, and help them continue to understand how the market works, why and what the future holds.

As a Gambling Industry Specialist, you’ll ensure that the Gambling Commission makes the right decisions on significant questions that impact consumers and enable the organisation to support best practice in the industry.

You’ll need to be able to be respected for both the knowledge you hold and your capability to communicate it and collaborate, internally and externally.

You won’t be on your own – you’ll be working as part of a group of in-house experts. The Gambling Commission will expect you to bring relevant or transferable industry experience. In particular, they are interested in online, digital-world experience.

This is an opportunity to continue to push your career, whether you come from the private or public sector – if you don’t stay relevant in this role, you’ve failed.

To be considered, you’ll need experience in the gambling or similar industry. The ability to develop an effective external network with stakeholders (e.g. other regulatory agencies and/or industry) and obtain information from a wide variety of sources is also key.

Organised and focused, as a Gambling Industry Specialist, you’ll need strong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills. You’ll also be able to work effectively, both on your own and as part of a team.

Previous regulatory experience would be beneficial to your application.

Please note, the closing date for applications is the 18th April 2018.

This is an amazing opportunity to take on a rewarding contract with one of the nation’s leading regulatory bodies. Apply today to find out how much of a difference you could make.
