Salary: Up to £90,000 per annum
The UK has one of the best road safety records in the world, yet there is still much more that can be done to improve it even further. The Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is an Executive Agency of the Department for Transport (DfT), responsible for setting the standards for both drivers and vehicles, providing testing services and enforcing standards. By doing so, we aim to help everyone stay safe on Britainâs roads.
This is an exciting time to join DVSA, as the new Board and Executive Committee have set an agenda for transformation that will see us put customers at the heart of everything we do. We are one year into the delivery of our five-year strategy, aimed at improving road safety; user experience; and value for money.
As Director of Enforcement, you will play a central role in our agenda to reform services and will contribute to the shaping of our organisation as it prepares for changes such as autonomous vehicles, digital technology, exit from the EU, and changes in government policy. As a member of the DVSA Executive Committee, you will be a key contributor in shaping the organisation and future strategy.
You will lead the development of a National Enforcement Strategy aligned to DVSA strategy, and ensure that we have the resources, processes and technologies to ensure compliance and enforcement. You will lead the Agencyâs intelligence capability and work with other government intelligence agencies to ensure efficient operational targeting; and you will lead a large team spread across the country and manage the complexities and challenges that this brings. You will also need to develop strong partnering relationships with stakeholders and partners.
For this role, we are looking a strong leader with a proven ability to set clear direction for the delivery of world-class operational services in order to meet customer needs and ensure value for money, who has operated at senior leadership level within a large and complex organisation through innovative change and continuous improvement. You will also need to have demonstrable experience of successfully managing the expectations of a complex stakeholder landscape.
This leadership role has the potential to make a real impact on the nationwide services that all of us rely upon to help keep Britainâs roads safe.
