Great Britain’s gambling industry is in a constant state of change, fuelled by shifting consumer behaviour and the rapid growth of technology. It’s high profile politically too, and the legislation controlling gambling is constantly under scrutiny. Within this uniquely challenging and evolving environment, The Gambling Commission’s role is to ensure that gambling is crime free, fair and open - and that children and vulnerable people are protected. Now they need you to play a key role in their future, driving the change needed to ensure that the Gambling Commission can meet the growing complexity of the market and their developing regulatory remit. 

The Gambling Commission are now looking for an SBIU Manager to join the Sports Betting Intelligence Unit (SBIU).

This is a fantastic opportunity for an intelligence professional to work at the heart of the Britain’s anti-match-fixing operations in a role where no two days are ever the same. 

As the SBIU Manager, you will be tasked with helping to deliver the Gambling Commission’s efforts to raise standards for sports betting integrity. 

This is an intelligence role that primarily focuses on the prevention of match fixing and other integrity concerns. You will lead, manage and support the SBIU team of three to deliver objectives to protect the integrity of sports betting. 

You will work with a wide variety of different contacts including colleagues, internal, external and international parties and a range of stakeholders and partners to promote SBIU engagement and the wider strategy of the Gambling Commission. 

Additionally, your role will involve: 

- Reviewing processes and working practices within the team 

- Allocating resources to ensure maximum effectiveness 

- Identifying, assessing and prioritising protected betting risks in the UK 

- Escalating and managing risks in line with the Commission’s policies and procedures 

- Maintaining your knowledge of legislation, betting integrity, Commission policy and corporate governance 

Interested? If so, you will need: 

- A background in intelligence such as within a police department, betting operator, integrity department or a sport governing body 

- Management experience 

Analytical and eager to investigate, as the SBIU Manager, you will need to be a team player with drive and passion to see a project or objective through to conclusion. Multi-tasking skills will be key, as will a focus on delivering results. 

An interest in sports and sports betting would be beneficial to your application.
