Job Description

€œEverything we do is to improve the lives of the people and communities we serve and to promote mental health and wellbeing for all.€ South London and Maudsley NHS FT (SLaM) has an impressive past and ambitious future. SLaM is a specialist mental health NHS foundation trust with a dedicated and innovative staff and a diverse patient population. Care is provided for the populations of seven London boroughs and through national specialist services to patients across England. There are very few organisations in the world which bring together such skills, experience and capabilities for the benefit of those who suffer with mental illness or addiction to drugs or alcohol. The scope of SLaM is unique because it is built on three major foundations: care and treatment, science and research, and education and training. The Trusts Non-Executives provide leadership and governance, ensuring the quality and safety of healthcare services, education, training and research delivered by SLaM, as well as strategic oversight and advice around the Trusts future. This Non-Executive appointment comes at a critical time in the development of SLaMs strategic plans as it embarks on its three-pronged strategy of revitalising its real estate with a £450m programme over the next decade, and commercialising both its international brand leadership position and its education and training business. These three key priorities represent significant change for the future, and success will require expertise at Board level in supporting opportunity development. To achieve these goals, SLaM is looking for a Non-Executive who can bring seniority of experience of transformational organisational change, in strategy and delivery, and an understanding of commercial environments where high quality and service are valued. The best candidates will be those who understand, through their own leadership experience, how successful organisations need to change as they grow. This person will join a diverse and innovative group, acting as a key member of the Board, the Business Development & Investment Committee and the Finance & Performance Committee. SLaM values a diverse workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community, reflecting the patient population it serves. Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency adviser to South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust on this appointment. A candidate brief with full application details can be obtained from their website at www.saxbam.com/appointments using reference code YASGB. Alternatively email belinda.beck@saxbam.com or telephone 020 7227 0880 (during office hours). Applications should be received by noon on Tuesday 13th March, 2018.
