University of Northampton
The University of Northampton is unique in the UK University sector in its commitment to social innovation. We need you to help transform lives and inspire change.
This is an exciting time to join our University as we prepare to relocate in September 2018 to our ground-breaking £350 million purpose-built Waterside campus. We are looking for individuals who share our passion for innovation, creativity and social impact as we realise our ambition of transforming lives for the better and inspiring positive change. We are one of only two AshokaU Changemaker Campuses in the UK committed to social innovation and awarded in 2017 the Social Enterprise Gold Mark, an independent guarantee of our commitment to deliver a positive social impact on people and planet. We were awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework.
As a board member, you can help to shape our development and contribute to our strategy for future success. Your fellow board members are drawn from the private, public and voluntary sectors as well as from the staff and students of the University. Collectively you and your colleagues safeguard the University through oversight of its activities, ensuring the effective and efficient use of resources in partnership with the Executive Team.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience gained working at senior levels in relevant organisations. Other significant expertise which is also relevant to the Board would also be considered. The successful candidate should be available for monthly meetings. Whilst the position is unpaid, reasonable expenses can be reimbursed.
We are keen to hear from BAME candidates, women, LGBTIQ candidates and those with declared disabilities. This vacancy is for an independent member of the Board, and is therefore not open to current staff or students.
Informal questions about the role can be addressed to Miriam Lakin, Clerk to the Board of Governors on firstname.lastname@example.org or 01604 893 007
The closing date for applications is 7 March 2018. Interviews are likely to take place in the week commencing 23 April 2018.
