Job Description

Kent Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Chair Maidstone, Kent We are one of the largest and most successful NHS community health providers in England serving 3 million people inside and outside of Kent, employing 5,000 staff with a budget of £224m. Our ambition and achievements are based on the consistent delivery of excellent community health services for children and adults to prevent them from becoming unwell, to avoid hospital or to leave earlier and to provide support closer to home. Our current Chair is coming to the end of his term of office and we are seeking a highly accomplished individual with a strong personal reputation and association with success to lead the Board. The successful candidate will lead us in building on the success of recent contract wins both in and outside Kent and influence the development of local care services across the region to proactively respond to the changing needs of the community. The Role: Provide exceptional leadership to the Trust Board and the Council of Governors and play a central role in ensuring the Trust realises its corporate objectives and fulfils its statutory requirements. Ensure that the needs of the patients we serve are met and address all clinical and financial challenges and opportunities through the delivery of high quality and cost effective services. Work as an ambassador for the Trust, in partnership with the Chief Executive, to build strong external relationships at a local, regional and national level and be a strong role model for visible leadership, values and behaviours internally. The Candidate: Excellent track record of achievement at board level within large customer driven organisations, whether in the public, voluntary or commercial sectors. Non-executive or equivalent experience with the strategic skills and commercial acumen necessary to ensure excellent governance and board performance. Communication and relationship management skills, political awareness and a strong commitment to the values of the NHS and public service.
