Job Description

YoungMinds is a unique organisation and the UKs leading charity championing the wellbeing and mental health of young people. We are regarded as a sector leader and influencer in our field influencing government policy to improve mental health for children and young people. Over the last two years, YoungMinds has become a charity partner in the Heads Together campaign and has been visited by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and by the Prime Minister. After ten years, Sarah Brennan will be stepping down as chief executive in May. She has played an instrumental role in ensuring the spotlight has been firmly on childrens and young peoples mental health, having influenced major government policy initiatives, set up Headmeds - a ground-breaking website for young people about mental health medication and established major youth participation programmes including Very Important Kids and YoungMindsVs. She leaves the organisation in an excellent position for the next phase of development ensuring we continue to reach more young people and their families. Our strategy moving forward is ambitious and focused on continued growth and impact. In preparation for this weve recently completed an external organisational review to identify change required within our organisation to support long term sustainable growth. This has included the appointment a new COO who will ensure the engine of the organisation operates as effectively and efficiently as it can, allowing the Chief Executive to lead on the development and delivery of our strategic plan and continue to build our influence externally. Were looking for an inspirational and engaging senior leader with a proven track record of influencing and building networks to achieve success. You will be adept at establishing and fostering strong relationships and will act as an authoritative figurehead for the charity and will be a powerful ambassador with Government, the media and the public. Already an established senior leader, you will bring a track record in leading change and will bring the skills and ability inspire our committed staff and volunteers. With an entrepreneurial approach you will understand how to develop and sustain income. Our ambition is to be the leading provider of children and young peoples mental health training and support for professionals, parents and young people. This is a pivotal point in our organisations history. If you have the passion and skills to make a difference, then we would like to hear from you.
