Job Description

The Ministry of Justice is one of the largest government departments and serves the public by upholding the rule of law and by delivering an efficient, fair, timely and effective justice system in which the public has confidence. Every year millions of people use the justice system in the UK, comprising 500 courts and tribunals, 133 prisons in England and Wales, and over 300 probation offices. The Ministry of Justice has around 76,000 employees and an annual budget of approximately 9 billion. Improving diversity and promoting inclusion are central to the work of The Ministry of Justice. This new role has been created to bring together efforts to improve diversity within the different areas of the Department and to drive the implementation of the Department?s Inclusion and Diversity Strategy. The successful candidate will work at executive and board level within the Department to ensure that a workforce is built that reflects the diverse nature of our society, that an inclusive and flexible workplace is developed that treats everyone fairly, and that all users of the Justice services are given fair treatment, fair outcomes and equal access. The Head of Diversity and Inclusion will work closely with Mervyn Thomas, Group HR Director, Richard Heaton, Permanent Secretary and Race Champion for the Civil Service, and Justin Russell, the Department?s Diversity Champion. The successful individual will be required to challenge these, and other, senior stakeholders in order to effectively deliver improvements to the diversity of the Ministry of Justice workforce and to promote social mobility and inclusion within the Department. It is therefore crucial that a candidate is comfortable interacting with and influencing a range of stakeholders. The closing date for applications is 2nd June 2017. A candidate pack and further information is available on the Ministry of Justice Jobs website. Applications and enquiries should be sent to: mojd@moloneysearch.com. There is no need to register with Moloney Search to apply for this position. This process is regulated by the Civil Service Commission.
