Hampshire Constabulary Specialist Entry Programme for Detective Constables Starting salary 22,668, (plus an additional South East allowance of 1000 per annum Hampshire Constabulary is offering you an exciting opportunity to be part of a professional and dedicated team carrying out a wide variety of crime investigations, including serious and complex cases, cyber-crime and other investigations at a level deemed appropriate. For the first time we are implementing a new and exciting career pathway to recruit aspiring Detective Constables from outside the uniformed Police service. If successful you will be at the forefront of Policing innovation and will be trained, supported and encouraged into the role of a Detective. Initially joining as a student Police Officer, you will complete a structured development programme over a period of 64 weeks which will enable you to progress to the role of Trainee Detective Constable, subject to your completion of the Police Officer programme and the Specialist Entry requirements. This will include a national investigators examination. As a Detective Constable your duties will encompass a wide range of investigative activities including statement taking, securing and reviewing CCTV, log keeping, prisoner interviewing, Offences Taken into Consideration (TIC?s), intelligence interviews, file building, and full Officer in Case (OIC) responsibilities which includes attending court and giving evidence. This role would provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a range of teams, such as reactive and proactive crime teams, public protection, major and serious organised crime and other specialist roles. A full driving licence for manual vehicles is required. Successful applicants will have to pass an in-house assessment centre and a national assessment centre, as well as vetting, medical, references and fitness test. Please note that the initial requirements will be the same as those for Police Constable Recruitment, but you will then be assessed separately at the end of this phase in order to determine your suitability to progress to the role of Detective Constable.
