Hours of work: Full time, 35 hours per week

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) and Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) are working together for a prosperous and poverty free UK where everyone can thrive and contribute.

We are now seeking a Data Officer to join our JRF Data Team. JRF Data is central to JRFs work and website. Launched a year and a half ago it now has 120 reliable and informative pages that showcase official statistics relevant to our work areas. These pages are constantly maintained, updated, developed and promoted. Each page has an interactive visualisation of an indicator (e.g. child poverty) and a short summary of JRFs interpretation of the data. The user can click on the graph or map and download the data as well as a number of other interactive features.

With management and guidance your main responsibility will be updating the JRF data pages as and when the latest official statistics are released. To do this you will be developing relationships with external data providers and colleagues within JRF. Statistical analysis will also be a key responsibility of the role, working with the Statistics Specialist in producing in-house analysis (varying from basic analysis to multiple regression), drafting graphs/content for blogs and responding to internal requests in a timely and effective manner.

To be successful in this role you will be educated to degree level with ideally a degree that involved statistics in the social sciences. You will have an interest in social research and how data can be used to inform and influence public attitudes. You will be highly numerate, possess advanced statistical skills in SPSS, STATA or R and have the ability to interpret complex statistics for the general audience. You will have excellent organisational skills and have the ability to prioritise conflicting demands. Web content skills and experience of analysing data from official sources are desirable. Experience of using HighCharts or similar would be an advantage.

In return you can expect to make a measurable contribution to a charity that transforms lives every day.
